Augmented reality session - ARAMIS
Livorno November 13th 2017. At 9:20 Italian local time the astronaut Paolo Nespoli performed the planned session for the experiment ARAMIS, Augmented Reality Application for Maintenace, Inventory and Stowage, an investigation that demonstrates how the use of augmented reality (AR) can improve the efficiency of the on board operations, by having all the required information for tasks superimposed at the normal views.
The augmented reality consists in the use of an iPad application that can be helpful for all the activities and can reduce crew time on tasks as maintenance and stowage.
Paolo Nespoli installed the markers launched in the air filter panel of Node 2, started the tablet and performed a standard maintenance activities ( dismount and and cleanup of the filters) but with the aid of AR.
From the ICARO centre of Kayser Italia the team followed all the operations and recorded the successful conclusion of the ARAMIS protocol.
