The second run of the BIOFILMS experiment was concluded in August 2022, and the samples were back on Earth after one month on board the International Space Station. This was the second flight mission for the BIOFILMS hardware developed by Kayser Italia, the third and last mission is planned on January 2023 on board SpX-27.
The sample retrieval is currently on going at the Principal Investigator laboratories (DLR) with the support of Kayser Italia team.
The 24 units correctly executed the scientific protocol inside the KUBIK incubator and the science team, after the samples removal from the experiment hardware, will start the analysis of the biological material in the next weeks.
