Radiation Shield Demo (PERSEO) P/L is a technological demonstrator for radioprotection systems consisting in a vest (e.g. a NOMEX garment) with embedded interconnected flexible containers, to be filled with water on-board, which will be positioned to shield the more radiosensitive organs. Water is chosen as a shielding material easily available on board of the space station. Water containers will be positioned in the garment in order to shield the more radiosensitive organs.
PERSEO is composed of:
A garment wearable by the astronaut with integrated containers to be filled with water on-board (PERSEO GARMENT)
A flexible container (0,5 Liter of volume) launched and brought back filled with water for water analysis (WATER CONTAINER)
Flexible container to be filled with water on-board, dedicated to radiation shielding measurements with ALTEA-LIDAL
A transport bag containing the garment and the filled 0,5L flexible container (TRANSPORT BAG)
