Investigation developing an Augmented Reality Application for Maintenance, Inventory and Stowage: technology demonstrator aiming to validate the use of Augmented Reality (AR), being deployed as a tablet application, to improve and make more efficient the on board operations, allowing to reduce crew time. The technology demonstration will be run to perform, with the aid of Augmented Reality, preventive maintenance tasks and stowage reconfiguration tasks. The investigation will exploit an on board iPad (Air-2) and the app will be loaded remotely from ground by the NASA SSC group.

ARAMIS wants to demonstrate that having all the information available on a single portable device in the field of sight of the operator, the overall operations efficiency improves.

ARAMIS components and operations:

  • A tablet (iPad)
  • Markers for environment recognition
  • The developed AR application loaded on the tablet
  • Transportation bag containing all the HW items to be launched
  • Two tasks will be performed by the crew on board:
  • Maintenance scenario
  • Stowage scenario
