Rotifer B2 - Biomission 2017 on board ISS

December 6, 2020 – Cape Canaveral, Florida  – Rotifer B2 the experiment belonging to the Biomission 2017 Procurement, has been successfully launched on the CRS-21 from the Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39A at 11:17 AM ET. The experiment, conceived by the University of Namur (Belgium), investigates the impact that spaceflight has on the ability for damaged sections of DNA to repair. This experiment will see whether an already resistant organism displays similar adaptation mechanisms with the added parameter of microgravity and may provide insights into DNA damage and repair mechanisms in general on Earth. Kayser Italia is responsible for the design and development of the hardware set. The Rotifer B2 experiment will be executed in the KUBIK incubator available on board the International Space Station.
